One-day International Conference “Graphic Poetry in Iberian Comics”: L’adaptation de la poésie à la bande dessinée en espagnol – 23/05/2024 – Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3

The One-day International Conference dedicated to “The adaptation of poetry into comics in Spanish” organized in Montpellier on May 23rd by the research laboratory ReSO and Cost Action ICOn-MICs constitutes the fourth moment of reflection on the relationship between poetry and comics initiated in “Translating Bodies and Intimacy in Graphic Poetry” (PICT, University of Angers, 27.10.22), “Visual Poetry and Graphic Poetry” (CELIS, University of Clermont Auvergne, 26.05.23) and “Graphic Poetry in Iberian Comics” (Universidad de Valencia, 27.06.2023) within the iCOn-MICs program.

The aim is to analyse the different modalities of transitioning from one semiotic system to another and to see the impact it has on both the reception of the poem and the comic, thus questioning the conception of adaptation as mere subordination of one medium to another.
