UNICÓMIC XXIII (March 2021)

Last March members of the Action participated in the conference “Unicómic XXIII. II International Conference of Academic Studies on Comics” held at the Universidad de Alicante (Spain). Professor Viviane Alary (Action Chair) and Dr Jesús Jiménez Varea (Action Vice-Chair) presented the project “iCOn-MICS Action – Investigation on Comics and Graphic Novels in the Iberian Cultural Area” (CA19119). Participants in the Action also contributed to plenary sessions. As part of the research activities of the group of scholars working on the historical approach to Iberian comics’ cultural heritage and the impact of the international diaspora of Iberian creators, Dr Jesús Jiménez Varea delivered a keynote on “Migraciones ilustradas: sobre la diáspora de los historietistas españoles”. Dr Hugo Almeida gave an inaugural lecture on the topic of Iberian comics as a form of intercultural dialogue.
