iCOn-MICs – Call open for Dissemination and ITC Conference Grants!

The COST Action CA19119, iCOn-MICS: Investigation on comics and graphic novels in the Iberian cultural area offers financial support for eligible applicants for Dissemination and ITC (Inclusiveness Target Countries) Conference grants. Applications are ongoing and reviewed by the Grant Awarding Committee on a regular basis.

Dissemination Conference grants offer financial support to Action participant for their participation in conferences to present the iCOn-MICs Action, their activities, and results (oral presentation) and for developing new contacts and potential future collaborations.

ITC Conference grants offer financial support for Early Career Investigators (under 40 years old) and PhD students from ITC countries for their participation in conferences. The grantee receives support for attending and presenting their work (poster/oral presentation) at a conference and can establish new contacts for future collaborations. ITC Conference Grants cover meals, accommodation and transportation costs to and in the country of the academic event (daily fee). For country-specific rates see: www.cost.eu/daily_allowance.

The following countries are considered as ITC countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, the North Republic of Macedonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey.

Note that applicants for ITC Conference grants must be engaged in an official research program as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow.

General rules

  • Applicants must carefully read the funding rules detailed in Section 9 of the COST Vademecum, including Eligibility Rules, Evaluation and Selection of Applicants, Criteria for ITC and Financial Support. We also encourage applicants to read these other relevant documents: the ITC User Guide, the document about Handling Travel Requests, and the Rule of Travel Reimbursement.
  • Applicants must apply using thee-COST platform by completing, submitting, and downloading their Dissemination or ITC Conference grant application online at https://e-services.cost.eu/activity/grants; during this process, applicants will also need to attach specific supporting documents, such as their updated CVs, the certificate of conference acceptance and attendance, the programme of the conference or book of abstracts/proceedings indicating the oral presentation of the grantee, and a copy of the given presentation. If you do not already have an e-COST account, you first need to “create an account,” which includes providing the details for the bank account where the grant will be lodged if your application is approved and the applicant attends the event as intended.
  • Applications and all documents related to applications must be in English.
  • Ideally, the request should be submitted at least 45 days prior to the conference start date.
  • The grant will be paid AFTER the grantee has completed their conference attendance and submitted a scientific report detailing their activities within 30 calendar days after the grant’s end stipulated date. Applicants must keep within the deadlines, or they will not be reimbursed.
